Italy coach Cesare Prandelli is set to make wholesale changes to his team for tomorrow's Euro 2012 Group C qualifier against the Faroe Islands in Florence.

Prandelli tonight announced his line-up with just five players who started in Friday's 2-1 win over Estonia named.

"I want to see players that have the age and the quality to have a future in the national team,'' said Prandelli.

Bologna's Emiliano Viviano will start in goal with Salvatore Sirigu relegated to the bench while veteran Alberto Gilardino will partner Giuseppe Rossi and Antonio Cassano in attack.

Cassano was pivotal in Italy's opening-match win, which was Prandelli's first competitive match in charge, after he scored and set up his team's second.

Prandelli has warned his players not to underestimate tomorrow's opponents.

"I want a team that plays football,'' said Prandelli.

"I don't want to see a drop in concentration, we know we have to avoid making that mistake.

"I want to see a generous, courageous team, that doesn't have any regrets at the end of the game.''

Tomorrow's game at the Artemio Franchi stadium will have a special significance for Prandelli, who coached Fiorentina for five years before leaving the team this summer when offered the Azzurri job.

"Florence has represented for me more than a professional rapport,'' said Prandelli. "I immediately had a feeling for the city.

"I would have liked to have worked here for many more years but I could not say no to the national team. I consider Florence my city and I'm sure tomorrow I will get emotional.''

Faroe Islands have lost their opening two qualifiers.

"For us this is obviously a difficult game,'' said coach Brian Kerr.

"Our aim is to get at least four points in this qualifying round. We are starting to score away from home, as was the case against Estonia.

"We have a young team, with eight players that could play in the Under 21s and we just have four professionals.''

Faroe Islands attacking midfielder Christian Mouritsen is doubtful for the encounter with an ankle injury.

Spain full-back Joan Capdevila is hoping the world champions can defy history and see off Argentina in Buenos Aires tomorrow night.

Although the Spanish are the undisputed number one side in world football at the moment following their triumph in South Africa, Capdevila believes they have some way to go before they can be compared to the Argentinians, who have won the World Cup twice and the Copa America 14 times.

The Villarreal full-back said: "This is a world class match-up and we hope we can put on a good show. Playing Argentina gives us added motivation.

"It will be a nice match. Both teams will want to win.

"If you look at history, Argentina are better than Spain but we are enjoying a good run of results and we look forward to continuing that for a long time.''

Spain opened their qualifying campaign for Euro 2012 with a 4-0 win over Liechtenstein on Friday but Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos is expecting a more difficult test tomorrow.

Ramos said: "This is a very important match despite it being just a friendly.

"We know Argentina very well. They have great players in their squad.''

One of those great players is Lionel Messi, who is accustomed to the quality in the Spain squad as he plays alongside many of the players for Barcelona.

He said: "''Argentina wants to win every game no matter where it is.

"We must take the ball off the Spaniards' feet. It will be a very nice match and the stadium will be packed.''

Argentina playmaker Andres D'Alessandro is back in the squad after a five-year absence and is relishing the chance to prove himself once more.

"I have missed this,'' he admitted.

"I am really looking forward to being back and want to profit from this chance. I want to enjoy being here, playing the world champions at home.''

The former River Plate and Real Zaragoza playmaker added: "The Spanish players have been together a long time and they are in great form.

"They have some great players and play nice football.''

The hosts will be led by interim boss Sergio Batista, who led Argentina to a 1-0 win against the Republic of Ireland in his first game in temporary charge.

How Fabio Capello must dread opening up English newspapers. Saturday's fare was full of grace and favour for the Italian, with a 4-0 victory against Bulgaria to cherish, and a strikeforce pairing to get excited about it. Sunday's tidings will have placed Capello's head in his hands as yet another of his leading players has suffered the fickle finger of that good old English tradition - the kiss n' tell, warts n'all tabloid sting.

Now England's coach will have to field a series of questions that are in no way related to football matters, and perhaps even deal with his star man suffering a crisis off the field. Wayne Rooney's peccadilloes are sure to dominate front- and back-page agendas for some time to come. And all this will be going on when England face what is likely the most difficult trip of their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

Switzerland and Basel offer the first genuine test of Capello Mark II. The Swiss are coached by Ottmar Hitzfeld, the German coach who has a better record in club management than his England counterpart. Indeed, Hitzfeld won two Champions League titles to Capello's one, and with different clubs too. The Swiss have also qualified for their last three tournaments, while also hosting Euro 2008. Hitzfeld took over after that tournament and his charges only lost one qualifier for the World Cup just gone.

What is best remembered about the Swiss in South Africa is that they were the only team to beat Spain but also failed to make the second round, after losing to Chile and only drawing 0-0 with hapless Honduras. Yet Hitzfeld's popularity levels are not in the depths that Capello still finds himself in and the German has promised a more expansive approach from his team. Capello meanwhile, must negotiate another soap opera before being allowed to concentrate on the job in hand.

England player to watch: Wayne Rooney

This section was supposed to be about a highly positive showing at Wembley on Friday, where a withdrawn Wayne was able to turn playmaker and provider for Jermain Defoe's hat-trick against the Bulgarians. It was Rooney's best performance since injury struck in Munich in March, and he looked relaxed and comfortable, an outward veneer that perhaps hid what was coming on Sunday. Now, the best that can be hoped for is that Rooney allows his football to do the talking. After all, there will be plenty of talking about the rest of his life.

Switzerland player to watch: Gelson Fernandes

The scorer of one of just two goals that eventual champions Spain conceded in South Africa, Fernandes may be familiar to English audiences as he spent two years at Manchester City, for whom Sven-Goran Eriksson signed the midfielder in 2007 and hailed him as the "best young player in Switzerland". Set to play in the midfield engine room, his poise and class on the ball, married to no little athleticism, will provide a test for Steven Gerrard, Gareth Barry and (should he drop back into what is bound to be a crowded midfield area) Wayne Rooney.

Key battle: Eren Derdiyok v Gary Cahill

News of Michael Dawson's injury is far better than expected but Capello looks likely turn to a highly inexperienced defender in Bolton's Gary Cahill a player in whom the Italian expressed his confidence in the aftermath of the Bulgaria victory. With Phil Jagielka as the ball-playing centre-back, Cahill will play as a stopper and will likely face Derdiyok, the man who scored the first goal against Capello's England in February 2008. The Bayer Leverkusen striker will lead the line for Hitzfeld, with veteran Alexander Frei playing off him.

Trivia: Switzerland are reigning World Cup Under-17 champions, after winning their title in Nigeria last year. The youngsters' first graduate to the senior team was Nassim Ben Khalifa, who made his international debut in August against Austria.

Stats: England last met Switzerland in a European Championship qualifier way back in 1971, and the match was drawn 1-1 with goals from Mike Summerbee and Karl Odermatt.

Odds: Switzerland are 4.00 to win, with England offered at 1.83 and the draw offered at 3.30 at Bet 365. Rooney to score first and England to win 1-0 comes in at 16.00.

Prediction: That Wayne Rooney loses his temper at some point& and the match is drawn 0-0.

Holland midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is desperate to play in every match the Oranje play.

Tottenham's new signing was a substitute, coming on at half-time to replace Nigel de Jong, as Bert van Marwijk's men opened their European Championship qualifying campaign with a 5-0 win at San Marino, a situation he hopes will not be repeated against Finland tomorrow.

"Of course it's always hard when I don't start for the Oranje, even against San Marino,'' he told www.ad.nl. "I want to play against moderate opposition just like in any other match.

"But I'm not going to let my head drop. In such situations, you learn to deal with it.

"It doesn't help the guys if I'm not prepared.''

Van der Vaart accepts Van Marwijk's preference for starting with De Jong and Mark van Bommel means he faces a challenge to prove he is worthy of a starting place.

"The coach often opts for two more defensive players,'' he said. "That is his choice.

"Maybe that's where I will play.

"Of course it's annoying when you're on the bench. As a footballer you always want to play.''

The star of the show on Friday was Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who scored a hat-trick, while there were also goals from Dirk Kuyt and the returning Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Hamburg striker came from the bench to score his 34th goal for his country, having been out of the international picture for two years.

He is now six behind Patrick Kluivert's record of 40 goals for Holland.

Finland got of to woeful start as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat in Moldova.

Sami Hyypia was sent off in that match so misses out tomorrow, a fact which is a big disappointment for Kuyt, his former Liverpool team-mate.

"I'm very sorry,'' he told De Telegraaf. "He's a very good friend and colleague.

"I've learnt a lot from Sami and would have liked to play against him.

"It's a bi blow for the Finns.''

The immediate future is looking bleak for Portugal after their opening Euro 2012 qualifier. A 4-4 draw at home to Cyprus was only the latest blow in a period that has seen Simao announce his international retirement, Cristiano Ronaldo suffer an ankle injury and, of course, coach Carlos Queiroz suspended for six months as a result of his interference in an anti-doping test ahead of the World Cup.

"I admit there was a lack of competence in a defence that is usually competent," Portugal's temporary coach Agostinho Oliveira, who had worked as assistant to Queiroz, said after the Cyprus match. "It's not easy explaining this. This defence is solid. We had two men in front of the centre backs and this result is hard for me to swallow."

An opening match at home to a team ranked 63rd in the world by FIFA should have allowed them to get the loss of so many key figures out of their system before taking on bigger tests, but the pressure will now be bigger than ever. Worse still, defender Fabio Coentrao will miss their game at Norway with a thigh injury.

Norway finished a very distant second to Netherlands in their qualification group for the World Cup and have not taken part in a major tournament since 2000, but they came from behind to beat Iceland 2-1 away in their opening qualifier on Friday and there is enough quality in their ranks to make them outsiders to reach Euro 2012.

With Denmark also expected to seriously challenge for top spot in the group, both sides will feel a defeat here would mark a very serious blow to their hopes of qualification.

Norway player to watch: Erik Huseklepp

The 25-year-old Brann striker scored twice in Norway's 2-1 friendly victory over a second-string France side last month, and his corner set up Brede Hangeland for Norway's equaliser against Iceland. Technically gifted and with a bit of pace, Huseklepp is also capable of playing as a winger and can be difficult to contain.

Portugal player to watch: Nani

Having missed out on a place at the World Cup through injury, Nani will be determined to seize his chance here. He supplied an assist and forced a couple of decent saves against Cyrpus and, while he is a long, long way away from such status yet, he does appear to be slowly growing into his long-held billing as the 'new Cristiano Ronaldo'.

Key battle: Brede Hangeland v Hugo Almeida

With Portugal expected to play a lone striker flanked by Nani and Ricardo Quaresma, it will be important that the forward is well marshalled. Hangeland is hugely dominant in the air, but he is likely to face a tough test against the 6'3" Almeida, whose aerial prowess is matched by good technique. Physically it will be an interesting battle and set-pieces are likely to be very important for the pair.

Trivia: Erik Huseklepp's father, Ingvald, played for the same team - Brann - in the 70s.

Stats: Both Norway and Portugal have lost only one of their last ten games, Norway losing a friendly to Ukraine 1-0 in June while Portugal went down to eventual World Cup winners Spain by the same scoreline in South Africa.

Odds: Norway (3.20), Belarus (3.25) and the draw (2.10) are all available at Bet 365, while Norway to win it 1-0 comes in at 8.00.

Prediction: Portugal have been much stronger over recent years but, given the current malaise around the team, Norway may very well take advantage. A home win would be no surprise.
